And of course, lots of artistic inspirations! I am building a portfolio of the styles that have influenced me and developed into my own style which I call Rustic Romance! And.....I love the name. What colors are found in this style? Well, it is VERY heavy on neutrals, with muted jewel tones and simple faded retro colors:
- White
- Cream
- Grey
- Brown
- Tan
- Black
- Muted Tones
- Faded Retros
Lots of wood and metal of all shades. But especially dark wood and whitewashed wood seem to fit in perfectly together with this style. Pewter, brushed nickel, oil rubbed bronze and copper are my fav metals. I like most metals with an aged patina but every once in a while I like something bright and shiny too!
My kitchen cabinets are golden oak right now with black counter tops so this is going to be one of my first make overs....I am wanting whitewashed or maybe an antique painted look....we will see! I like my black counter tops, although I would love to have a very dark granite....lol, wouldn't we all?
